thoughts on Raich anyone?

i found that extremely unsurprising, except for the oddness of having Thomas and Rehnquist on the "pro-pot" side (but given that the case wasn't really about pot, that wasn't so awfully weird). was anyone else surprised or did it seem obvious to you all as well?

I though Thomas' dissent was quite good. I'm glad they differentiated this from Lopez and Morrison, as I was somewhat worried this decision would gut any limits those decisions placed on the scope of Congress' commerce powers. I expected the result that was handed down, and while it's not what I was hoping for, it's not as bad as it could have been.
it's very consistent with their views on federalism (except for scalia, but it seems to me that he's big on federalism only when it supports something he agrees with), though it is kind of funny and odd.
